If you want your blog to earn a decent amount of money per month, and you don’t have money to invest into advertising for your blog (lets face it, we're all human!), this is where self-advertising comes in, which will draw readers into coming to visit your website or blog. Remember, blogging is not an over-night money making method, since you need to post and build up your blog to a certain extent before you can start generating real money.
Advertising is when you are trying to encourage people to come visit your blog, and this is vital if you want people to read your articles that you’ve spent so much of your time on. If you are a beginner blogger,
you probably shouldn’t start investing money into proper advertising campaigns just yet, because you need to build up your blogging profile and make quite a bit posts before you have the potential to gain some profit from these campaigns. If you feel confident – there’s nothing to stop you, and if you know you’ll get some profit this way, go for it. I just think that it’s best if you wait till you make some revenue with the blog, and you can spend some money on advertising afterwards.
To really expose your blog and make it known, here are 5 ways which could help you promote your blog.
- Forum Posting.
Forum posting is a traditional method into dragging the reader into your blog. Whenever you see somebody wanting some information about a certain thing e.g. someone is requesting information about the latest news, and your blog has that news, don’t hesitate to inform them to check out your blog. You’re both going to benefit from this!
Also, if you reply to somebody’s post which may be completely irrelevant to your blog, this doesn’t matter
too much. In exchange for the wisdom you have given them, just ask them to check out your blog (put a clear link to make it easier for them) in the reply! Also you can leave a link to your website in your sig. Any forum is good, but I would say ones most relevant to your website or blog is better as more people would be interested into looking at it. You can also join forum websites which pay you for posting if you really want to earn some extra income and still get some valuable advice and increase traffic.
- Link Building
You could lure traffic to your website if another website of the same niche posts a link of it – all you have to do is post a link of theirs which is easy. Find some blogs of similar relevance to yours, and kindly ask them if you can exchange links with them. This is often called a ‘back link’ and is a significant way of increasing traffic, as readers on their websites may click to go on your website.
If you are interested in having your link on my website, and it has similar relevance to my website, then drop a comment or email me. All I’m asking is for you to put a link to my website and we’ll both benefit!
- Submit your blog or website to search engines
Submitting your blog or website to a search engine enables somebody to find your site if using relevant keywords. It may take a while for a website to be indexed into a search engine, but this is the top way, and is where the majority of traffic comes from. Make sure you submit to popular search engines otherwise this method may prove useless. You should also fill your website with relevant keywords so you’re more likely to get visitors. Submit your website url to these top search engines: Google, Yahoo and Msn.
- Post content consistently
If you want to make sure your website readers are satisfied with your website, then you must post content regularly. If you’re just starting up a blog, you should try and post everyday, but if you can’t find the time, you should at least try four times a week. It’s not hard, and you don’t have to post full length articles – maybe a few sentences is all you need as long as it’s necessary and concise. If your website has a lot of content already, you probably only have to update it once a week. Make sure your content is relevant as well, and you’re going to most likely receive more traffic this way.
- Get yourself listed in web directories
If you submit your website to a website or blog directory, you will find that you have gained traffic directly from these web directories. It may not bring loads, but you may as well as it could bring some extra visitors to your website.
- Get your website reviewed
You can go on a forum of your choice, and make a thread asking people to review your blog as long as the forum is relevant. They can give you some advice and constructive ideas to improve your website, thus making it better and more successful, which ultimately brings more traffic to your website. You really can’t ignore peoples advice because at the end of the day, these people are the ones visiting your website so you’ve got to find out the good and bad points of your website.
------There are many ways in increasing traffic, and you shouldn’t opt for the unnatural ‘buy traffic’ websites because it won’t generate genuine readers. You would want people to be interested and engaged to your website because that is the rewarding part, even if you’re making money from it. If you put some effort into your blog, that’s when you’ll really get some proper traffic and you’ll be on your way to having a really successful website! Good luck webmasters!
